History

The School of Public Policy and Government is the outcome of an initiative by the deans of the Sao Paulo School of Economics (FGV EESP) and Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (FGV EBAPE) in Rio de Janeiro. Fundação Getulio Vargas recognized the need for more student diversity, beyond the country’s South and Southeast regions, and the need for greater contact with different areas of the federal government.

FGV’s School of Public Policy and Government aims to turn out a group of qualified professionals to think about and positively impact the future of Brazil. These professionals will have to propose innovative solutions to national problems and be able to prioritize the countless demands of different segments of Brazilian society. The professionals trained by FGV EPPG will have mastery over the social sciences and politics, ensuring that governmental action effectively achieves society’s goal. They will also have access to areas of public administration and economics, making them able to analyze public policy in a broad way.
